Dawson High School invites you to help celebrate National Athletic Training Month during a free, all-you-can-eat hotdog night March 28 at the Dawson Eagles vs. Galena Park Yellowjackets home baseball and softball games.
The event includes a hotdog-eating contest and recognition of the licensed athletic trainers who support DHS's 1,000 athletes, cheerleaders, dancers and Naval JROTC.
In addition, Congressman Pete Olson and State Rep. Ed Thompson will present proclamations and throw out the first pitches at the games.

Hotdog Night Schedule:
5 p.m.: Hotdogs served
6 p.m.: Softball game first pitch
6:30 p.m.: Hotdog-eating contest
7 p.m.: Baseball game first pitch

Athletic trainers Chris ShaddockCoy Van ValkenburghLindsey Thomas and Erin Sutton take care of DHS athletes from injury through rehabilitation and return to full participation.

While focusing on fitness, conditioning and performance enhancement, athletic trainers work in collaboration with physicians to prevent and treat musculoskeletal injuries and sports-related illnesses.

At DHS, 17 student athletic trainers also assist in day-to-day function in the athletic training room, including recognizing injuries, taping, administering treatments, providing first aid and stretching. These students are certified in CPR and Automated External Defibrillator use.
"Every Body Needs an Athletic Trainer" is the theme of the 2013 National Athletic Training Month sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

Turner CCHS Deadline Nearing

Turner CCHS enrollment deadline nearing

The deadline to confirm enrollment for Turner College and Career High School has been slated for April 12.

The "declaration of intent to enroll" form will be removed Friday, March 8, from the TCCHS webpage (www.pearlandisd.org/TurnerHS.cfm).

Students have until Friday, April 12, to complete their enrollment conference at TCCHS and confirm or change their high school choice for August 2013. (Call 281.727.1600 to schedule a conference.)

Additional enrollment at TCCHS after April 12 will be limited based on space availability in individual programs and classes at individual grade levels.
The TCCHS "declaration of intent to enroll" form has been available since Dec. 6. In addition, Principal Jennifer Morrow has hosted six community information nights to provide details about campus opportunities.

Enrollment Procedures
As a good custodian of taxpayer dollars, Pearland ISD strives for accurate course requests and enrollment estimates to staff and hire appropriately for every campus.
In Pearland ISD, students have the opportunity to choose to attend their zoned high school or TCCHS. However, because of staffing and funding decisions, students should remain at their chosen high school for an entire school year after the April 12 commitment deadline
Limited opportunities to drop classes and make changes after April 12 are outlined in the district's course catalog.

About TCCHS
Support and interest in TCCHS have been outstanding.
Opening in August 2013 at 4717 Bailey Road, TCCHS will offer students professional career certifications and/or a college associate's degree while in high school.
Thanks to its specialized focus, it will open with approximately 30 percent of the enrollment of the district's two comprehensive high schools.

For more information about TCCHS, visit www.pearlandisd.org/TurnerHS.cfm.
